A CG-animated reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise from Seth Rogen has marked out a theatrical release date.

On Twitter, Rogen announced the film’s release date, along with what appears to be a page from a young Leonardo’s science notebook.The page makes jokes and references about his brothers and “TMNT” teammates Raphael, Michelangelo and Donatello and April O’Neil, their friend and reporter who has appeared in nearly every iteration of the franchise.The last time the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles graced the big screen was in the Michael Bay-produced live-action films Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.
While speaking with Insider last year, Seth Rogen said:
“When I look at ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,’ the teenage part was weirdly what stuck out to me the most. I think one thing we’ve been pretty consistently good at over the years is creating material about teenagers, from ‘Blockers,’ ‘Good Boys,’ and ‘Superbad.’ That was really what became exciting for us is how do we make a great action-adventure movie that’s also a great teenage movie.”
Speaking about the project, Brian Robbins, President of Kids & Family Entertainment for ViacomCBS, said:“Adding Seth, Evan, and James’ genius to the humor and action that’s already an integral part of TMNT is going to make this a next-level reinvention of the property. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do, and I know that Ramsey Naito and her team are excited to take the Nick Animation Studio into another great direction with their first-ever CG-animated theatrical.”Rogen’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film is set to be directed by Jeff Rowe (The Mitchells vs. the Machines) from a script by Brendon O’Brien (Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising).
