The Seth Rogen-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles CG-animated movie now has an official title and release date. Paramount Pictures and Seth Rogen recently unveiled the title and official release date for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem via Twitter.The reveal featured a New York City mural painting showcasing the film’s title logo artwork, along with the release date. The upcoming animated feature is due out in theaters on August 4, 2023. You can check out the image of the NYC mural that Rogen shared on Twitter below.The current release date puts the upcoming CG-animated reboot opposite the Warner Bros. Pictures sequel, Meg 2: The Trench, which arrives on the same date. Previously, Seth Rogen announced in June 2021 that the film was going to have an August 11, 2023 release. So, this updated release date moves the film’s release up one week earlier than what Paramount had the film at last year.

This will not be the first CG-animated TMNT movie. Warner Bros. Pictures and The Weinstein Company released IMAGI’s CG-animated Ninja Turtles film, TMNT, back in 2007. The film made about $54 million domestic and $95.7 million worldwide and didn’t do well enough to receive any follow-ups.Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem Logo This new animated movie will mark a new era for Ninja Turtles films at Paramount. Viacom’s Nickelodeon first purchased the franchise back in 2009 for $60 million from Mirage Group and 4Kids Entertainment. This led to the first Nickelodeon-produced CG-animated series that debuted in 2012. The show lasted for five seasons and 124 episodes. Paramount Pictures later released its first live-action TMNT movie in 2014. The film grossed $493 million at the global box office.

After that film’s 2016 sequel, Out of the Shadows, failed to light the box office on fire, Nickelodeon and Paramount went back to the drawing board, which led to this latest CG-animated take from producers Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver. The new film is directed by Jeff Rowe, the co-writer and co-director of last year’s acclaimed The Mitchells vs. The Machines.
