The Sandman. Tom Sturridge as Dream in episode 101 of The Sandman. Cr. Courtesy Of Netflix © 2022. The Sandman season 2 is not coming to Netflix in January 2023. While we’re disappointed by the thought of having to wait to be reunited with Morpheus (Tom Sturridge), the King of Dreams, we’re not too surprised that the second installment won’t be finding its way to our screens this month. After all, the streaming giant only announced its renewal in early November 2022.That being said, ever since the highly-anticipated show, which took 30 years to get a proper adaptation, made its debut on Netflix in August, fans of the dark fantasy series — adapted from Neil Gaiman’s best-selling DC comic book series of the same name — have been eagerly awaiting news on the release of season 2.
If you’re itching to find out when The Sandman season 2 could be released on Netflix, we’ve got all the latest release updates below. The Sandman season 2 release updates As of the beginning of January, The Sandman season 2 doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet. However, now that we know that the series has been green-lit by Netflix for more episodes, we can guesstimate when the show will return.
We can probably predict that production on season 2 won’t take as long as the first, as it was originally delayed due to COVID-19, and with fewer restrictions now in place and most of the casting being already complete, filming for the show shouldn’t take as long.
With that in mind, we don’t think it’s unrealistic to predict our return to the Dreaming by late 2024. Of course, things could move faster, and the official release date could look different, but with the number of special effects needed to bring the show to life, post-production could hold things up, so bare this in mind! Until Netflix release an official statement we suggest you take all release information with a grain of salt. Plus, it’s important to note that Netflix is calling The Sandman‘s renewal “more episodes” instead of explicitly saying it’s a second season. That means there’s a chance we’ll be getting a few specials sometime in 2024 (or sooner!) before an official second season.
